LWF Council Meets in Geneva to Prepare for the 2030 General Assembly

The Council of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) convened in the lakeside village of Founex, just outside the city of Geneva, from June 11 and will conclude on June 15.

The Council is focusing primarily on preparations for the upcoming General Assembly scheduled for 2030.

The venue for the Council’s annual meetings alternates between Switzerland and one of the 99 countries where member churches are located.

The theme of this year's meeting is “That We May Be Mutually Encouraged by Each Other’s Faith” (Romans 1:12), emphasizing the early Church’s understanding of faith as a communal experience in which believers depend on and encourage one another.

The opening worship service was held on the morning of June 11 at the local St. Robert Catholic Church, while the Sunday service took place at La Côte Church in the neighboring village of Gingins.
