Welcome to ELCT North Western Diocese
The North Western Diocese (NWD) is one of the dioceses of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) and operates as an autonomous, legally recognized institution with its own constitution. Based in the Kagera Region and parts of Geita Region in which in which more than 180,000 are ELCT NWD church members. The NWD’s mission combines preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ with social and development work, serving people of all faiths. Officially established in 1910 by German Bethel missionaries, its roots date back to 1896 through local traders in Buhaya. The head office is located in Miembeni Ward, Pwani Street about 500 metres from Bukoba Airport and 300 metres from Lake Victoria, Bukoba Municipal, Kagera Region, Tanzania.
