KIBETA ENGLISH MEDIUM PRIMARY SCHOOL CELEBRATED ITS 13 GRADUATION.
Kibeta English Medium primary School which is run and owned by NWD celebrated its 13 graduation on 25thAugust, 2017. It is 19 years now since the school started. The school is recruiting pupils from the age of five in Pre-school to the age of twelve.

THE NWD MOURNS THE DEATH OF REV. ELLY ISHENGOMA
The North Western diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania received with profound grief sad news of untimely demise of its pastor, Rev. Elly Ishengoma who passed away on 12th July,2017 at Ndolage hospital. The funeral was held on 15th July, 2017 in his home village, Bishura-Ishozi.
UMAD IN SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY.

On 16th June, 2016, NWD was in the front line to participate in the cerebration. The African Child day (DAC) was established to commemorate the 16th June 1976 student uprising in Soweto, South Africa, during which students marched to protest the poor quality of education.

MR.IGNATIO KYAMANI IS IN THE HANDS OF THE LORD
The North Western diocese mourns the death of the beloved Mr. Ignatio Kyamani who died on 2nd June,2017 . The late Mr. Ignatio retired in 2002 after serving the diocese for 27 years as a nurse, since 1960 -2002. He worked in different health units including Kigarama dispensary and Izimbya hospital.

The earthquake that occurred last year destroyed the previous pastor’s house. The congregants in collaboration with partners have decided to build another modern house for their pastor.

REINTEGRATION OF STREET CHILDREN IS POSSIBLE.
Tumaini Children is a NWD center which is focused to the rehabilitation and reintegration services to the most vulnerable working children and living on street, especially in Bukoba Municipality. The center has ever assisted 750 children back.

NWD MOURN THE DEATH OF REHEMA NSIBU.
She was a daughter of the Reverend Isack Nsibu and a receptionist at ELCT Bukoba Hotel & Tours. She passed away on 15th, January, 2017 in the Regional government Hospital. The ELCT Bukoba Hotel and the North Western Diocese at large received the news about her untimely demises with profound grief.

FOOTBALL MATCH BETWEEN HEAD OFFICE STAFF VS HUMAN RIGHTS DESK ASSISTANCE
It was on 20th December, 2016, Wednesday the day which was cherished especially to the Head Office staff. The friendly football match was possible between NWD Head Office staff and Assistance of the Human Rights desk. The game was dedicated for combating ‘’witchcraft and superstitions’’ campaign that led the violations of Human rights.

His former house was heavily hit by the one of the earthquake victims, the earthquake which happened on 10th September this year.
EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS IN BUTAINAMWA RECEIVE AID
Tanzania Refugees services in collaboration with the North Western Diocese of the ELCT handed over food aid including rice and beans to the Kagera Region commissioner Offices on 8th December,2016. The aid directed to Butainamwa village in the Kasharu ward to the earthquake victims (most vulnerable families).

FAREWELL PARTY DEDICATED FOR YEP PARTICIPANTS.
On 28th of November,2016 the youth desk of the NWD prepared a farewell party to the four youth from the church of Sweden who stayed in the Diocese for three months under Youth exchange programme. The NWD youth exchange program has been receiving and sending four youth to the church of Sweden per year.
KARAMBI PARISH MEETING
The meeting was held on 23th November, 2016 at Karambi church. It was organized by the Parish Pastor Rev. Godwin Rubere (chair person) and attended by all leaders from each congregation that constitutes the Karambi parish.
EVALUATION OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS DESK.
On 21st to 23rd, December, 2016 the diocesan planning office evaluated the program in five church districts out of nine where the program provides service. Random sampling was applied, the selected district was Mashariki, Kasikazin B, Kusini A and Bukoba focused to both rural and urban areas.
ILUHYA SECONDARY SCHOOL CEREBRATES 29TH GRADUATION.
Iluhya Secondary School which is run and owned by the North Western Diocese celebrated its 29th graduation on the 19th of November, 2016. The total number of 111 four students graduated.

The congregants of Kigarama Parish ( Kaskazini A district) bought a new car ( NOHA T727DJF) For the Parish activities and pastor usage in doing God works. On 13th, November, 2016, the car launched by the parish pastor, Rev. Diocres Mashongore after the Sunday service.

Co- workers and Scholarship holders and Alumni in the UEM African Region had a program of visiting Ruhija School of Music on the 7th November, 2016. Referring to the theme of the Conference ‘’Church Music is a tool for Evangelism’’.
UEM SEMINAR CONCERT
The concert was held at ELCT Bukoba Hotel grounds on 6th November, 2016, starting from 3.00pm to 5.45pm. It was organized in the honor of the conference. The event was decorated by Kashura Youth, Kanisa kuu, Bethania choir and the traditional dance from ‘Akasimbo’- Ngote group.
CHURCH MUSIC IS A TOOL FOR EVANGELISM.
This is a main theme of the conference of co-workers and Scholarship holders in the UEM African Region, from 5th to 11th, November, 2016. The host of the conference is NWD (Bukoba hotel) Participants have begun to arrive since 9.30am.
THINK GREEN WHEN IT IS RAINING.
The good progress in the diocesan tree plantation is visible. As it was informed before, the diocese inaugurated the tree project in Burugo Parish on 1st September, 2016. The plantation had 15 hectors and twenty five thousand trees seedlings are expected to be planted in two plots namely Burugo and Mushabago.

It is a diocesan pleasure and the all community at large to see the good performance of KEMPS, standard seven National results. On 7th up to 8th September, 2016, thirty six pupils sat for their final exam, at the end of October results were announced.

The NWD is on front line to make sure children are trained in the good way as it stipulated in Proverbs 22:6. ‘’ Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it’’.It was on 27th, June up to 17th July, 2016 when Women and Children department started the seminar, training trainers of the Sunday school teachers at Kashura Women’s Center.
KASHURA YOUTH CHOIR LAUNCHES ITS VIDEO TAPE
On 23rd, October, 2016 the youth choir of Kashura Parish launched its video tape which is comprised of 9 songs the best one known as ‘’Abana ba bilebi’’ children of now days. The guest of Honor was Mr. Johas Kyamani.
THE SEMINAR ON EARTHQUAKE TO NWD PASTORS
The NWD pastors attended the seminar on how to deal with earthquake victims and how to overcome the destruction. The seminar was held on 23rd, September, 2016 at Kashura Women Center. Among the facilitators were Dean Lermy Lwamkomezi and Prof. Mruma (The Geologist).
NWD PASTORS ATTEND THE NATIONAL WIDE CONSULTATION
Over 50 pastors from the NWD have attend the national conference which is organized by the National Church ( ELCT), and hosted by the Dodoma diocese at the University of Dodoma ( UDOM). The consultation 24-29 September, 2016) was colored by the procession of pastors who were in their clerical vestments walking around Dodoma city.
PARTNERSHIP (UDUGU) DAY BETWEEN RUHIJA BIBLE SCHOOL AND HERBORN.
Ruhija Bible School of the ELCT/North Western diocese has friends from within and outside the diocese. It continues to partner with Herborn in German since 1987. This partnership is growing and reveals visible marks like communication by letter and emails, exchange of visits, sponsorship, sharing of different talents and celebration of Partnership Sunday service.
SPECIAL PRAYERS FOR EARTH QUAKE VICTIMS.
On 18th September, 2016 was a special day to hold the earthquake victims in prayers.The event has organized and coordinated by North Western diocese of the ELCT. Religious groups include Muslims (BAKWATA), Roman Catholics, Pentecostals and Lutheran church and the hosting organization.
IMMEDIATE NWD RESCUE INTERVENTION.
The North western Diocese of the ELCT is in front line to support earth quake victims. As the church is duty – bound to witness in such times, it has started an immediate relief to the victims. The diocese has already cereals, sugar, beans, cooking oil, plastic sheets and soap.

LWF EMERGENCE TEAM IN THE NWD.
On 11th September, 2016 at 7.am the Lutheran World Federation Uganda sent an assessment team in the NWD to conduct a rapid assessment since the earthquake struck in Tanzania on 10th September, 2016.The team comprised of Andrew Masaba (LWF Field coordinator) and Denis Labeja (LWF emergency officer).
PRIME MINISTER KASSIM MAJALIWA JOIN MOURNERS AT THE BUKOBA STADIUM.
On 11th, September, 2016 Prime Minister Mr.Kassim Majaliwa arrived in Bukoba to evaluate the intensity of the destruction caused by the earthquake which according to the Geological survey of Tanzania was the most intensive one ever experienced in the country, whose magnitude was 5.7 on the Richter scale. Mr. Majaliwa led Bukoba residents at
KAGERA REGION HIT BY THE EARTHQUAKE.
Yesterday on 10th September, 2016 the kagera region where the North Western Diocese operates was hit by strong earthquake, which has been said to be the tune of 5.7 Litcher scale.The earthquake was noticed at 4.00pm and continued for almost five minutes in two phases.
INAUGURATION OF THE DIOCESAN TREE PROJECT
The North Western diocese inaugurated the trees plantation of 15 hectors, in Burugo Parish. Twenty five thousand trees seedlings are expected to be planted in two plots. The event occurred on 1st September, 2016 at the inauguration officially done by Bishop, Dr. A. Keshomshahara in collaboration with Mr. Simon Kirstensen of Damission.
KYAITOKE PARISH IN CELEBRATING HAKI DAY
Kibilizi congregation in collaboration with the Human rights coordinators arranged Haki day which was held on 27th August, 2016 at Kibilizi primary school grounds. The celebration attracted government leaders, religious leaders, citizens of Kabilizi ward, village and ward leadership. The guest of honor was Mr. Mulishid Ngaiza (The chairman Bukoba rural council)
ONE WEEK OF NWD PASTORS’ SEMINAR.
The seminar held on 14th up to 19th August, 2016 at Ntoma Vocational Training centre was attended by 84 participants. Bishop Dr. Keshomshahara opened and closed the seminar. Participants included retired and non retired pastors from in and out the diocese. Two pastors were from outside of the diocese, Rev.Dr.J.Bocko and Rev.Dr. F.Mutashobya from Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
HISTORICAL GRADUATION AT BUKOBA LUTHERAN CATHEDRAL.
On 3rd September, 2016 form four students (member of CCT) from the schools which are found in Bukoba Municipal had a graduation (of Tanzania Students’ Christian fellowship). The event was held at the Lutheran Cathedral in Bukoba town. Apart from students, the event attracted teachers from various schools, parents and other church leaders. More than twenty schools participated on the graduation.
BUKOBA LUTHERAN SEMINARY (BuLuSe) AROUND THE CORNER.
The North Western Diocese started the Bukoba Lutheran Teachers’ College (BLTC) in 2007. The college grew into a very strong education institution like other grant institutions in the diocese. It even competed with other big teachers’ colleges in Tanzania. However, behind its success, apart from its own initiatives, there were supportive government education policies in addition to few private colleges in Kagera region and in Tanzania in general.
‘’KNOW YOUR RIGHTS, FULFILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES ‘’
This is NWD Human right desk motto in mobilizing the society to know their rights and responsibilities. From 15th to 16th August, 2016 the human right desk organized a seminar in Kusini B church District specifically at Ipandikilo ward. The seminar was focused targeted on capacity building on how to solve conflicts and create awareness on Tanzania laws.
VISITATION OF BISHOP RUNE BACKLUND AND GERHAN EGERHAG AT KASHURA WOMEN CENTRE.
It was on 13th August, 2016 when Kashura women centre was visited by Bishop Rune Backlund and Gerhan Egerhag from church of Sweden. The event attracted the diocesan leaders, Pastor and evangelist of Kashura Parish, Burugo women choir and neighbors of Kashura Women’s centre.
EVANGELISTS COUNCIL OF KUSINI B
The evangelists of Kusini B church district had a conference which was held which conducted on 10th August, 2016 at Ilemera church. The conference attracted 36 out of 44 evangelists found in the district. From six parishes namely Ilemera, Kagoma, Kitaaba, Karambi, Kanyinya and Muleba. It aimed at entrepreneur solidarity among evangelists, so as to boost their economic income at family lever.

The two mentioned Officials have attained opportunity to attend a workshop organized by the United Evangelical Mission in the City of Douala, Cameroon.
INCOME – SAVINGS = EXPENDITURE.
On 25th July, 2016, two representatives of Lutheran Investment Company from the Head quarters of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (Arusha) had a seminar with chairpersons and treasures of all Savings Credit Cooperative Society groups in NWD.
ONE WEEK OF CAPACITY BUILDING
The seminar held at Ntoma Mother House ‘’Namalira’’. It was conducted since 24th up to 29th July, 2016. The guiding seminar was specifically for the heads of NWD institutes, Departments, programs and units. It aimed at empowering and giving guidance on how to implement the strategic plan of the diocese (2014-2018) aiming at achieving great success.
EVANGELISTS FROM ELCT LAKE ZONE DIOCESES ENJOY SEMINAL ON EVANGELISM.
187 Evangelists from five diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, in Lake Zone attended. The seminar was conducted since 10th up to 17th July, 2016 which held at Ntoma Vocational Training Center, in the North Western Diocese. The participants were from Karagwe Diocese 36 Evangelists, Mara (36), and North Western (49). Others were from East of Lake Victoria (16) and South Eastern of the Lake Victoria (50).
NTOMA ORPHANAGE ORGANIZES A FAREWELL PARTY IN THE HONOR OF MS. EVA MAHAMBA.
On 16th of July, 2016 the leadership of Ntoma orphanage organized a farewell party in the honor of Ms Eva Mahamba, who was the head of the Institution since the year 2000 to 2014 and her husband Mr. Deogratias Mahamba who accompanied her wife and lived in Ntoma for so many years. The North Western Diocese was glad to host Ms. Susanne Deoflinger from Bread for the World, Germany. (EWDE has 24 partners in Tanzania). MAGHARIBI CHURCH DISTRICT WOMEN’S BECOME CHAMPIONS.
Magharibi women’s became champion on the women’s concert that was held on the 25th June, 2016 at the Bukoba Lutheran Cathedral church, Bukoba Municipal. Every two years, women of the North Western Diocese, organizes and conducts their festivity in each church district and later the champions from every district compete at the Diocesan level. IGABIRO TRAINING INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE CELEBRATES 49TH GRADUATION.
Igabiro training institute of agriculture which is run owned by North Western diocese celebrated its 49th graduation on the 14th of June, 2016. It is 53 years now since the institute started. It is accredited to train long and short courses on improved agriculture, livestock keeping, Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, Skills development and Environmental conservation.

Ms. Michelle joined the North Western Diocese on 2014 from the Metropolitan NewYork Synod, USA. She has worked as a teacher at Kibeta English Medium since 2014 up to 2016. NWD VISITED BY MORSOE DELEGATION.
The pleasure was with the North Western diocese to receive a delegation from Morsoe, Denmark on 8th June, 2016. The delegates were into two groups, one group was focused to the technical part of checking and repair medical equipment and the other group was specially for strengthening partnership.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION UNDERTAKEN BY DANIDA TEAM IN THE NWD.
From 25th up to 27th of May, 2016, the diocese received the visitors from Danish Development Aid (DANIDA) of Denmark. It was a group of four people from DANIDA was constituted by Jorgen Skytte Jensen (Team leader), Harika Dolek (DANIDA representative), Christian Oregart (Financial Consultant) and Prudence Kaijage (Local Consultant).
ACCOUNTANT AND ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR OF UEM VISITED EVANGELISTS PROJECT.
Ms. Luth Mulokozi (Accountant and Assistant Administrator of UEM) visited evangelist project on 29th March, 2016. NWD Evangelists they have a union through which they entrepreneur to boost their economic income in which they deals on how to increase their income.
THE HANDING OVER BETWEEN THE RETIRED HEALTH SECRETARY AND THE NEWLY APPOINTED.
Ms. Rose Muchuruza and Mr. Nicolaus Tinkamwesigile had a handover on the 31st June, 2016,. The supervisor of this handing over was Mr. Joseph Lulinga (NWD’s Assistant Treasurer). Ms. Muchuluza reached the retirement age (60) years; the NWD’s Executive Committee elected Mr. N. Tinkamwesigile to be her successor.
FIVE NWD’S PASTORS THANK GOD AND DIOCESE FOR THE MOTORBIKES.
It was on 27th May, 2016 when the Diocesan Management handover five bland new motorbikes (Honda). These were given to five pastors for work in God’s missions. The pastors were, Rev. Johanitha Yona of Ruzinga parish, Arnold Mudogo (Bugango), Peace Mutoka (Bwanjai),Ezekiel Robert ( Kashasha), and Mutanukwa David ( Kikukwe).

Izimbya Lutheran Hospital is a Council Designated Hospital for the Bukoba District Council, in Kagera region in the North Western part of Tanzania.Izimbya started way back in 1965, as a small unit to cater for the surrounding population but as years passed-by, the demand of service was increasing and thus in 1991, the unit was upgraded to the level of a Health Centre.Read More.............

MODERN MEDICAL EQUIPMENT INAUGURATED AT NDOLAGE HOSPITAL.
ELCT Ndolage is a hospital which is located in Muleba district, at Kamachumu division about 60km Western from Bukoba town. It provides curative, preventive and teaching services to 60,000 approximately of the population which found in Muleba District. A person named Ansbert, who lives in the neighborhood of Lyamahoro church invaded church land by claiming to have inherited it from his rate father. He sold the plot to Mr. Twaih Abdu Ismail without involving neighbors in the process. The congregation leadership realized that invasion through the tree seedlings which were planted. Izimbya Lutheran Hospital is a Council Designated Hospital for the Bukoba District Council, in Kagera region in the North Western part of Tanzania. On 13th December, 2015 marked the history in NWD where by this day two pastors were ordained and officiated their marriage. On the same day the NWD organized a session in the honor of the retired Bishop, Dr. Elisa Buberwa. On 13th October, 2015 at 7:30 am a special service was done in the memory of the late (Ma) Ingeborg Mor’en Sundkler in the Kashura Lutheran Church. The Village Saving and loan Association is one of exciting means of mobilizing people to generate income, which is under capacity building project.Currently, a project is based in Nshamba and Mushabago wardsin Muleba District, Kagera region. ‘’CHURCH IN THE GLOBAL VILLAGE’’
UEM Pastoral College was held at ELCT Bukoba Hotel in the North western Diocese. It is officially opened on 30th, June 2015. It comprised 30 delegates from four countries; Tanzania, Germany, Rwanda and DRC. The main theme of this year is ‘’Church in the Global village’’. The NWD is represented by Dean Lwankomezi, Rev. Phinias Lwakatare, Rev Alice Kabugumila, Rev. Jackson Mushendwa and Rev Jonathan Hamurungi. The workshop is led by the Regional Bishop Annegret Puttkammer of the Evangelical Church in Hessen and Nassau (EKHN) together with Rev. Jorg Staehler a tutor for ecumenical learning.

The General Assembly which took place at Kibeta English Medium Primary School (KEMPS) on the 3rd of June,2015. The theme for the Assembly has been “….we travail night and day...; 2Thessalonians 3:8’’. The Diocesan General Assembly comprised delegates from 49 parishes and 9 church District, Diocesan Executive Committee members, Departmental Secretaries. Also there were invited guests from the Diocesan institutions and programs. The special invited guests included the Regional and District Commissioners, Bishop Desderius Rwoma of Roman Catholic (Bukoba Diocese) and Sheikh Haruna Kichwabuta (The Regional Sheikh of BAKWATA). The elect Bishop
The electoral Diocesan General Assembly has elected Rev.Dr. Abednego Nkamuhabwa Keshomshahara to be the bishop elect on June 2nd, 2015 at Kibeta English Medium Primary School (KEMPS). The Assembly was opened with the worship service, which was led by the Presiding Bishop Dr. A. Malasusa in collaboration with the current diocesan bishop Elisa Buberwa. The Presiding Bishop delivered the sermon from 2Timothy3:1-13. In expounding his sermon, he clarified on Bishop’s responsibilities by emphasizing that ‘’ The Bishop must keep the right teachings of the church and accept that he/she is called to participate in God’s mission’’.
He continued to express his thanks to the NWD for the invitation on such a big event and to Bishop Elisa Buberwa for his high standard of commitment to serve God’s people.
As preliminary electoral preparations, Bishop Buberwa had this to say ‘’ I beg all of members of the Assembly to inquire the Holy Spirit and obey him as we vote for the Bishop. Don’t follow neither your desires nor convictions from other people. Obey the voice of the Holy spirit’’.
The Diocesan general secretary, Rev. Elmereck Kigembe had time to go through various clauses of NWD constitution and explained how the entire process would be undertaken. Members were called by names, one after another, they moved forward and were given ballot papers, and they made it. Balloting started at 2.00 pm and was done three times until the name of the bishop elect was declared before the meeting. As informed before there were three candidates who were proposed for the bishopric post by the Diocesan Executive Committee No.334. These were Rev. Dr Abednego Nkamuhabwa Keshomshahara, Rev. Dr. Josephat Alphonce Rweyemamu and Rev. Amos Kamugisha Mushendwa. The Chairperson, Bishop Elisa Buberwa, guided the voting session peacefully and successfully.

The Bishop elect had this to say ‘’ I thank all members of the Assembly to trust me and cast your votes for me thus make me a Bishop elect of our Diocese ’’
The Bishop elect will be the diocesan Bishop of the fifth phase after his consecration in October 18th, 2015 at the Cathedral (Church of the saviour) in Bukoba Municipal.

NOMINATED CANDIDATES FOR THE BISHOPRIC POST (FIFTH PHASE).
The North Western Diocese Executive Committee No.334 met at Ntoma Mother House on March 31st /2015- April 01st / 2015. The committee selected three names of Reverends whose names will be voted by the Synod delegates on June 2nd / 2015 at Kibeta English Medium Primary School (KEMPS) in order to come up with one Reverend who will be the diocesan Bishop for the fifth phase. The names nominated are Rev.Dr. Abednego Nkamuhabwa Keshomshahara, Rev.Dr. Josephat Alphonce Rweyemamu and Rev.Amos Kamugisha Mushendwa. This has been done following the retiring preparations of the Bishop Elisa Buberwa on October 2015. The following is a brief clarification of Candidates,
Rev.Dr Abednego Nkamuhabwa Keshomshahara was born on Feb 2nd / 1969 in Ngando Village and Parish respectively, in Kasikazini B church District. He was ordained a pastor on December 14th / 1997; he holds a PhD in Systematic Theology.Currently he is working at Josiah Kibira University College of Tumaini Makumira (JoKUCo) as Lecturer and Assistant provost for administration.Rev. Dr Keshomshahara is married to Melisa they are blessed with two children.
Rev.Dr Josephat Alphonce Rweyemamu was born on 1968 in Mishenye village, Rubale Parish in Magharibi church District. He was ordained a pastor on January 10th / 1999. He holds a PhD in Missiological theology from Steltenbosch university in the republic of South Africa.Currently he is working as a Lecturer at Silliman University in the Philippines. He is married and has three children.
Rev. Amos Kamugisha Mushendwa was born on March 18th /1970 in Ruhanga- Kamachumu , Ndolage Parish in Kati church district. He was ordained a pastor on December 14/ 1997. He holds a master Degree in Community Economic Development (MCED) from the Open University of Tanzania.
Currently he serving as Secretary for World Student Christian Federation – (WSCF Africa Region) with the head quarters in Nairobi Kenya. Rev. Amos is married to Melisa and they are blessed with three children.
The North Western Diocese General Secretary, Rev. Elmereck Kigembe in clarifying this process said ‘’This is a Constitutional procedure, so done purposely to call upon the attention of congregants to pray for the appointed names, so that God may choose one of them to assume the Bishopric responsibility in the NWD’’
The installation of the new Bishop will be officially done on October 18th / 2015 at the Cathedral Church in Bukoba town.
