THE DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Background

The Department was officially established in July 1985 as a department for Projects and Community Development. This followed the resolution of the General Assembly convened in 1985 towards the Diocese’s efforts for self-sustainability. The motive behind the establishment of the Department was to foster economic initiatives of the diocese, her congregants, institutions and programs.
Following the 2000 diocesan structural adjustment, the Department changed its name and adopted the name of Planning and Development in order to curb the fast growing and increasing of church activities. The growing and increase of church activities necessitated the adaptation of a Long-term planning as a paradigm shift from a tradition short- term planning which was the main mode of planning for that particular time.
