BUKOBA LUTHERAN TEACHERS’ COLLEGE (BLTC)
HISTORY Makes Us PROFESSIONALS’ ARCHITECTURES
The ELCT/NWD started the construction of Bukoba Lutheran Teachers’ College in December 1998 under the sponsorship of ICCO and later on EED. Initially, the idea to have the college for teachers training erupted in 2002 and the target was to train science teachers due to the scarcity of that caliber in Tanzania.
Bukoba Lutheran Teachers’ College was officially born in 2007 under the ELCT/North-Western Diocese. The first campus of BLTC was where Josiah Kibira University College is today. Currently, BLTC is at Ruhija, sharing the site with the Bible School (REA), in Bukoba Rural District, since 2012. It is registered by the government of Tanzania under NACTE, with the registration No: REG/TLF/015.
The first Principal to today is Mwalimu Isaya Bakinikana. ‘Glory be to God’ that The Bishop-Elect Dr. Abednego Keshomshahara was once the Vice Principal, succeeding Rev. Samwel Byarugaba. Mr. Amos Kalema also worked with the Vice’s Office when the Bishop-Elect had to remain working with the take off of JoKUCo. Currently the Vice Principal is Rev. Jonathan M. Kyaruzi who took over the office after the transfer of Rev. Dr. Josephat Rweyemamu to the Philippines.
